AAGHAZ 2020 - Inauguration of the MBA 2020 Batch & Academic Year was held through online on September 16, 2020. Mar Pauly Kannookadan, Bishop of Irinjalakuda Diocese and Chairman of SIMS, inaugurated the function. Dr. Anandakuttan B. Unnithan, Dean of Academics, Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode and Dr.Benny Joseph, CEO, Jubilie Mission Medical College and Research Centre were the chief guests of the program. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the inauguration was organised without the physical presence of the students and families and was organised through the Zoom online platform. In his welcome address Executive Director Rev.Fr. George Pareman mentioned about the strong need to have self-development together with academic excellence and welcomed the guests both in the campus and online platforms. In his inaugural address H E Bishop focussed on the need to upskill with a research oriented mind and improve on leadership and management skills with social commitment. After the inaugural address there was lamp lighting ceremony, called ‘Veritas’. Together with Bishop lighting the lamp and inaugurating the new batch, parents of new batch students lighted the candles to students at their homes. After that, the oath taking was administrated by Msgr. Lazar Kuttikkadan and students confirmed the oath holding the lighted lamps. Msgr. Lazar gave a message to light up ourselves to give light to everyone around. Oath taking followed the speech from academic and industry experts. Dr. Anadakuttan Unnithan stressed on the need to transform to better individuals in knowledge acquisition, upskilling, raising up to dreams and aspirations. Dr. Benny Joseph enlightened the students how they have to change in next 24 months of SIMS life and focused on 3 competencies – Knowledge, skills and behaviour and how to mould and develop in these competencies. Director Dr. George thanked the guests for their presence, both physical and online.
