SIMS awards merit and merit cum means based scholarships for the eligible MBA students at SIMS. These scholarships have constituted after the name of IDET founder chairman late Mar James Pazhayattil, the first bishop of the Diocese of Irinjalakuda. Following his words, SIMS creates avenues for MBA aspirants to proudly complete their MBA program by earning the SIMS scholarship award. SIMS has designed a fair and transparent process for identifying the winners of the scholarship. Merit based scholarships are awarded based the pre-determined score in MBA entrance tests (CAT/CMAT/KMAT) score. The institute (Sahrdaya Institute of Management Studies - SIMS) calls for applications and submissions in this regard. Procedurally, the applicants have to attend two rounds of interviews wherein the panel members would be internal as well as external. By collaborating with suitable external panel members, SIMS reduces the likelihood of subjectivity in decision making and also increases the fairness in the processes. The identified students will earn a scholarship worth maximum Rs. 50000/-. SIMS does not limit the number of winners per se, but share the benefit to the most deserving candidates applied for the scholarship. On an average, the institute shares Rs. 5 lakhs per annum for the purpose of awarding scholarships. Besides the aforementioned scholarships from the side of the management, the students can compete for the TMA-DLB student scholarship worth Rs. 50,000/ organized by Thrissur Management Association (TMA) under the patronage of All India Management Association (AIMA). Also, the eligible students can apply in Government portals facilitated by various ministries and departments under State and Central Governments. The institute would facilitate the processes by sharing timely information regarding various scholarships.
Candidates seeking admission to the MBA degree course should have passed any degree of the University of Calicut (including degree programmes of the SDE) or of any other university, institute or college recognized by the UGC or the AICTE. Programmes of other universities or institutions shall be in 10+ 2+ 3 pattern (or 10+ 2+ 4) under regular stream. In all the cases, the student should have passed the bachelor degree examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate including the marks of languages, if any; to be eligible for admission. The final selection of the candidate will be based on the scores obtained in the entrance test (KMAT/CMAT/CAT), GD and interview conducted by the college.
Candidates desirous of taking admission at SIMS shall attend a group discussion as part of the selection process. The candidates will be given a topic of current relevance and will be asked to present his/her views on the topic individually and in a group. The objective of GD is to test the knowledge, attitude, communication skills, leadership qualities, etc. of the participating candidates. The team may consist of eight members or more and the entire process may take around 30 minutes. The candidates are expected to give a brief introduction about themselves at the end of the group discussion. After the group discussion, the students have to attend a personal interview.
After attending the group discussion, candidates shall appear for a personal interview with HR experts. The aptitude, attitude, managerial potential, etc. of the candidate will be assessed at this stage. On completion of the personal interview, a rank list will be prepared on the basis of the aggregate score attained by the candidate in the entrance test (80% weightage), group discussion (10% weightage), and interview (10% weightage).
