About Us

Sahrdaya Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) is a rising star in the horizon of quality education, erected on the rich tradition of the Catholic educational system. SIMS is the fourth professional venture of the Irinjalakuda Diocesan Educational Trust (IDET) chaired by Mar Pauly Kannookadan, the Bishop of Irinjalakuda. The institute was inaugurated in the year 2015 by the Hon’ble Governor of Kerala Shri Justice (Retd.) P. Sathasivam in the presence of Prof. C. Raveendranath (Minister for Education, Govt. of Kerala), Mar Pauly Kannookadan and other dignitaries. SIMS started functioning on 1st August 2016 after being affiliated to the University of Calicut, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and recognized by the Government of Kerala. SIMS offers a value integrated management education and believes that the young minds of tomorrow will take wings here with a secular-spiritual outlook. As the tagline of SAHRDAYA clearly indicates, “we promote character, the rest follows”. Academic excellence, placements, brand value – everything is defined by an individual’s character.

IDET

The Catholic Diocese of Irinjalakuda established the Irinjalakuda Diocesan Educational Trust (IDET) in 2001 for promoting higher education and research thereby spearheading the nation-building process. IDET currently runs four institutions of repute namely the Sahrdaya College of Engineering and Technology, the Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, the Sahrdaya Technology Business Incubator and the Sahrdaya Institute of Management Studies.

Diocese of Irinjalakuda

The Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Irinjalakuda came into existence in the year 1978. The late Bishop Mar James Pazhayattil was the first bishop of the diocese and the founder chairman of the IDET and the Sahrdaya group of institutions. Under the dedicated leadership of the diocese, the institutions are committed to expend their available resources for the promotion of quality education, health, and social welfare.

Library

The library system supports the teaching and research programmes of the institute by providing physical and intellectual access to various resources. The library aims to develop a comprehensive collection of documents useful for the faculty and the student community of the institute. Membership is extended to the members of the institute. The Library possesses a large number of books related to various aspects of management, multimedia CDs, national and international journals, periodicals and local as well as national newspapers. Online databases such as EBSCO Business Source Elite, DELNET, J-Gate, NPTEL, NDL, etc. are also accessible.

Class Rooms

All classrooms are aesthetically designed and equipped with smart boards and multimedia facilities. 60 students can be comfortably seated in each classroom. Teachers can have online access to market data, discussions etc. in the classrooms. All teaching resources can be accessed and shared with the students using the college intranet facility. A combination of conventional and modern methods of teaching aids helps faculty members to deliver the content more effectively. The classrooms provide an ambience conducive for learning, lectures and presentations.

Seminar Hall & Auditorium

The institute has multiple halls for conducting seminars, conferences, events, etc. with a seating capacity of 100 to 500. All the seminar halls are aesthetically designed, air conditioned and equipped with state of the art multimedia facilities. The Mar James Pazhayattil Memorial Auditorium (Amphi Theatre), air conditioned and provided with best sound system and lighting, has a seating capacity of 500. These are ideal venues for conducting corporate events, conferences and seminars.

Team-Based Learning Centre

The institute has a dedicated learning centre with a seating capacity of sixty. The centre caters to group learning, team assignments and projects. The centre acts as an incubation centre for experimenting with business ideas and product samples. The centre extend ideation-camp services to prospective entrepreneurs and prepare them for presenting their business ideas and plans in various contests. The centre facilitate case-based learnings, debates and discussions in order to facilitate the students with analytical and problem-solving skills. The centre is designed to conduct business simulations and experiential learning exercises.

Hostels

The institute provides suitable accommodation facilities for the students in the campus itself. There are hostels for boys and girls. The hostels are adequately equipped with internet facilities, recreation, medical, mess and other facilities. Counseling services, health checkups, etc. are provided as per requirement. The hostel mess serves high quality food and snacks. The hostels offer a safe environment, conducive for learning. A lot of teachers stay in the hostel and are accessible to students for clarifying doubts, etc. The hostels are managed by reverend priests and nuns. Hostel day, shopping and film outings and other celebrations make the hostel life more colourful.

The institute helps interested people to learn driving, fire-fighting, first-aid provisions and other skill-sets to manage an individual's life situations successfully. Health & Sports Facilities

Sports and Games are an integral part of the institute. The Physical Education department of the college provides systematic training and coaching to the students in various games throughout the year. Practical sessions are conducted for football, volleyball, cricket, basketball, chess and table tennis. The college has a multi-purpose field (with 200mts track of 6 lanes for athletics alone). Our students participate in inter zone university competitions and win several titles and awards. The institute also has separate gymnasiums for the girls and the boys. The fitness centre has 16 work stations for men and 12 work stations for women. There are provisions for learning yoga, aerobics, etc.

Cafetteria & Canteen

The institute has central canteen facility and snack bars at different locations. The central canteen has provisions for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. The snack bar at the institute functions from 9 am to 5 pm on all working days. It serves beverages, snacks, juice, ice-cream and other delicacies to satiate your taste buds. It also has provisions for stationery items, photocopying, spiral binding, etc. All the caterers inside the campus are certified by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). SIMS greatly encourages healthy food habits among its members. Health is wealth!

Pick & Drop (College Bus)

The institute has a fleet of buses to transport the students and faculty members to and from various parts of the state. The buses reach the college by 8:45 AM and leave the college by 4:20 PM on all working days except Friday (5.15PM). On Saturdays, the buses leave the campus by 4:10 PM. All the drivers carry more than ten years of experience, take personal care and attention in the case of each student as they know each student, parent and location of their house.

Campus Welfare

SIMS is a totally ragging-intolerant campus. Students who have experienced any kind of ragging, intimidation or aggressive behaviour can immediately bring it to the notice of the Anti-ragging committee (Helpline: 9895545476, 8078363748, 7356316282). Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established, the guilty will be punished as per the directives of the AICTE/UGC/law of the land. Notably, we never had a case of ragging reported. The institute has constituted a Grievance Redressal Cell to address the grievances of our students. The complainant may directly approach the Cell or the OMBUDSMAN or send a duly signed hard copy of the complaint along with supporting documents/evidences with complete postal address directly to the Deputy Director, PGR Cell, AICTE headquarters, New Delhi-110070.

The institute is situated in Central Kerala at a travelling distance of 3.3 kilometers from the National Highway 47. The nearest railway stations are Irinjalakuda (4.7 kms distance) and Thrissur (25.9 kms distance). The Cochin International Airport is only 32.7 kms away from the institute.

College Buses

Sahrdaya Institute of Management Studies has a fleet of buses to transport the students and faculty members from and to various parts of the district. The buses reach the college by 8:45 AM and leave the college by 4:15 PM on all working days except Friday. On Friday, the buses leave the campus at 5.10 PM.
