SIMS awards scholarships for academic excellence of MBA aspirants at SIMS. One of the best opportunities for availing this scholarship is to showcase your best performance in the SIMS’ scholarship exam conducted in memory of late Mar James Pazhayattil, the founder chairman of IDET. Following his words, SIMS creates avenues for MBA aspirants to proudly complete their MBA program by earning the SIMS scholarship award. SIMS conducts this scholarship examination usually in the month of February, for the UG final year/passed out students every year. Hence it is our great responsibility to remind you to follow the web-based information on registering for the exam. The winners of the first three ranks are awarded with cash prizes and certificates. The top 10 rank holders are awarded with a scholarship worth Rs. 50000/-, if they are selected for the MBA programme of SIMS. Apart from this, the students also get a chance to compete for the TMA-DLB student scholarship worth Rs. 50,000/.
Candidates seeking admission to the MBA degree course should have passed any degree of the University of Calicut (including degree programmes of the SDE) or of any other university, institute or college recognized by the UGC or the AICTE. Programmes of other universities or institutions shall be in 10+ 2+ 3 pattern (or 10+ 2+ 4) under regular stream. In all the cases, the student should have passed the bachelor degree examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate including the marks of languages, if any; to be eligible for admission. The final selection of the candidate will be based on the scores obtained in the entrance test (KMAT/CMAT/CAT), GD and interview conducted by the college.
Candidates desirous of taking admission at SIMS shall attend a group discussion as part of the selection process. The candidates will be given a topic of current relevance and will be asked to present his/her views on the topic individually and in a group. The objective of GD is to test the knowledge, attitude, communication skills, leadership qualities, etc. of the participating candidates. The team may consist of eight members or more and the entire process may take around 30 minutes. The candidates are expected to give a brief introduction about themselves at the end of the group discussion. After the group discussion, the students have to attend a personal interview.
After attending the group discussion, candidates shall appear for a personal interview with HR experts. The aptitude, attitude, managerial potential, etc. of the candidate will be assessed at this stage. On completion of the personal interview, a rank list will be prepared on the basis of the aggregate score attained by the candidate in the entrance test (80% weightage), group discussion (10% weightage), and interview (10% weightage).
